Problem: When we migrated the SharePoint 2.0 sites to 3.0 the breadcrumb trails did not appear except on sites that were newly created after we migrated to 3.0.
Solution: Change the global navigation setting to the “display same navigation as parent site” option. To get to the global navigation section click Site Actions > Site Settings > Navigation .
